Organized by the Open Diplomacy Institute
From May 17 to May 20, 2026 in Paris
Ahead of the 2026 G7 Evian Summit
HISTORY
___
The Open Diplomacy Institute is behind the G20 and G7 youth engagement groups
On the eve of the G8 summit in Deauville and the G20 summit in Cannes in 2011, the Open Diplomacy Institute organized the very first Y20 and Y8 summits under the patronage of the President of the Republic.
The Institute also organized the Y7 in Deauville in 2019, ahead of the G7, and is preparing to organize the Y7 2026 in May.
In 2019, the Y7 met in Paris to call on G7 and African Union leaders to take bold, coordinated action for a fair and sustainable future. Faced with the accelerating climate crisis and rapid technological change, the delegates focused on addressing growing inequalities and rebuilding trust between youth and institutions. Their recommendations emphasized the urgent need to declare a climate emergency, commit to full decarbonisation, and guarantee sustainable agricultural practices. They also advocated for recognizing universal access to a free and neutral Internet as a human right, ensuring women’s full participation in policy design through a feminist approach, and launching an alliance for fair globalization that places the wellbeing of current and future generations at the heart of policymaking.
In 2026, it will be the third Y7 Summit organized by Open Dipomacy in France.
